Learn to drive with either weekly driving lessons or an Intensive Driving Course.
You can drive throughout your pregnancy as long as you are comfortable, can reach everything you need to in the car, and can comfortably and safely manoeuvre the car.
Some women are exceptionally tired so they may stop driving while pregnant. If you are taking medication that does not affect driving and are fit and able, there is no reason why you can’t take driving lessons. You should go with how you feel physically and mentally. If you feel stressed and anxious you may want to think twice about taking lessons.
The driving test will remain the same, regardless of whether you are pregnant or not. You will not be exempt from performing the emergency stop and you will be expected to brake firm. As long as you take the correct safety measures and wear your seatbelt correctly, you and the baby will be fine.
Always wear both the lap belt and shoulder strap. Buckle the lap belt under your belly and over your hips. Never place the lap belt across your belly. Put the shoulder strap between your chest and off to the side of your belly. Never place the shoulder strap under your arm.
